Logitech quick-cam communicate stx audio problem?

I installed this webcam some time ago and all was well, recently i installed some updates from logitech. Since then i have had a problem recording from the webcam , it records ok but on play back the audio goes out of sync and often sound like some1 messing around with a vinyl record , speeding up and slowing down. Theres also a lot of snappy sounds from the audio, im on xp sp2, I cant do a system restore as i have a different problem there. Any ideas ?
